Doubles and Near Doubles Worksheets
These free printable doubles and near doubles worksheets help students master one of the most powerful mental math strategies: using known doubles facts (like 6 + 6 = 12) to quickly solve nearby problems (like 6 + 7 = 13). This strategy builds calculation speed and number sense, and is a core skill in 1st and 2nd grade math.

What are doubles and near doubles?
A "doubles fact" is adding a number to itself (like 7 + 7). A "near doubles fact" is one number off from a double (like 7 + 8, which is just 7 + 7 + 1). Once students know their doubles facts cold, near doubles become fast mental shortcuts instead of problems they have to count out.
